60hz problem with my LED monitor.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster SA700 LED Monitor. It used to be my only monitor and I ran it at 129hz all the time. I recently picked up a Hanns-G monitor 27" and it only runs at 60hz.

When I dual monitor I can only run my Samsung at 60hz, when I change it back to 100 or 120, I get a half visible screen with snow on it until I switch it back to 60hz. When I unplugged the Hanns-G and tried switching back to 100 or 120hz on my Samsung, I still received snow.

Any suggestions?

You mean dots or static type lines that flicker randomly and jump on the screen. ?
Mostly white in color.

Don`t know if you are using windows 7 or 8.
Anyway.

Use windows screen resolution, on windows 7 simply right click on desktop and select from pull down menu.

Click on advanced.
Then the list all settings tab.

In there will be a list of resolutions, and at least two Hz ranges for them plus the color depth 16,24,32 bit.

Look to see what its set to.
And try the other values in Hz see what happens.

I'd start with resetting your monitor to factory settings. If that doesn't work; a complete uninstall of video drivers using DDU (http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/) and then installing latest drivers. Try your monitor on another computer if you can. What are you using as your two connections for video? Discrete or onboard?

I connect with DVI, monitor drivers or my GeForce 680 gtx drivers? I don't get snow when it's on 60hz, it makes no sense tbh.

Once I switch the monitor to 100hz or 120hz, snow.. lol

Ethan if you could go into detail a bit more on doing so I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the response, much appreciated, I finally checked back to this post and that was the problem (the wrong DVI connection).

Thanks again :D
