Plugs coming from PSU

Hi! I am a newbie builder and am in the process of my first build now. I have my motherboard build and everything. All I need to do now is plug all the cables together. Coming out of my PSU are about 8 cables, and I am quite unsure which ones I will need to use and what ones I don't. I know the 24v one is for the motherboard power, but what is for the hard drive? Also, what powers the CPU? What other plugs will I need to use?

Solution

Just one. (exception to my previous suggestion)
The 3 pin will have a speed sensing wire that a motherboard header can use to control speed.
The bigger 4 hole is called a molex connector that goes to the power supply. You can daisy chain these like Xmas lights. It will run the fan at full speed always.
If you see a hole for a power lead.... fill it.
Plugs are keyed to fit only one way and for only it's intended purpose.
Look at the shape of the plugs and holes. Just do not force anything.
Some psu leads will be extras that don't need to be attached anywhere.
