What? You can't do that.
Your motherboard will only work with these CPUs:
http://us.msi.com/support/mb/970AG43.html#support-cpu

You can't just mix and match, they have to be compatible.
Assuming it IS compatible, you put a heatsink with NEW thermal paste on it right?

It is an Athlon. Not sure what kind... I think one of the pins were bent. I think I will order this CPU: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Processor-AD760KWOHLBOX-Richland/dp/B00D7BYMB2/

...Will it work?

No. You have an am3/am3+ socket only...

If the pins were bent you could have damage your motherboard as well but.... you definitely had a damaged CPU.

Pins can be unbent if they aren't too broken though.

Just checked and I cant return my i3 I had... so I will be getting a new motherboard and using my i3 for the build instead. Can you please find me a cheap, good one that will work with all my parts and fit my case? Please. I will be very thankful.

Which specific i3 did you buy, they aren't all compatible with each other's motherboards.

Yes it will work. I gave you options besides the absolute cheapest because the cheapest option doesn't give you much choice in the future.

It would be cheaper to buy a new CPU (i7) and another XFX 7870 and crossfire it with your current one (make sure they're the EXACT same model) to increase the performance of your computer (older parts are cheaper in the future) without having to build an entirely new computer.

Thanks. So I will do this: Get the MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate, return my old mobo, put in my i3... and hope for the best.
