I'm going to upgrade my gpu and psu
will my mobo be compatible with r9 290?
this is my mobo:https://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-760gmp34fx
these are the rest of my specs
corsaircx500 watt psu
amd6300fx cpu
8gigsram
also will i need a new cpu cooler or would I be fine with just the stock cooler?

Solution
The cards are backwards compatible with every mobo.
The mobo you have has a PCIe x16 2.0 slot,so you should have no problem running the GPU at its max.
However, the PSU you have isn't enough, since the GPU requires 650W PSU (http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm).I would suggest buying a XFX Pro/Core 650W 80+ Bronze PSU,which will be enough for your R9,but no overclocking.
You should be fine with the stock cooler on your FX,but dont even think about overclocking it!
I think that the 6300 will not be fast enough to pull the max out of your card,in other words,it will bottleneck it.I would get a FX 8320,the R9 290 and a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO as a cooling solution
If i helped,make sure to choose a solution. :)
