This is a new build from new/scavenged parts. I have never done this before and am very confused.

Mobo: Gigabyte F2A55m-HD2
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 370K Richland 4.0GHz, Socket FM2
RAM: HP DDR3 SDRAM - 4 GB - DIMM 240-PIN - 1333 MHZ
PSU: Hp Bestec Atx0300d5wc 300w ATX Power Supply

I have unplugged my SATA2 Disk Drive and HDD because I figure they should be unnecessary for an Initial BIOS boot.

So, it turns on, CPU and PSU fans spin, CPU gets warm after a few minutes. I have tried re-seating the CMOS battery.

I hear no POST beeps even with RAM removed, but I'm not sure if i need to install a card or speaker?

I have it set up inside of a wooden Cabinet so I'm not to worried about shorting it out.

Right now I'm looking at CPU and MB as possible culprits, but I was hoping for a more experienced opinion before I start blaming.

Any constructive Input is Appreciated, Thanks in Advance. =]

You won't get display because your CPU doesn't have integrated graphics. The mobo gets its graphics from the cpu. You should get an A series APU (A4, A6, A8, A10). Only then will you have any diplay from your mobo. in short, the culprit is the cpu.

Hi boju, so i hit that "Solved" button a little early, I attempted to Install a friends video card and we still have no output coming from the VGA on the video card, he uses that port for his build and it works fine.

He had to install Drivers to run the GPU on his machine. It is an MSI AMD Radeon R6570-MD2GD3/LP Videocard

If that's what I need to do, how can I install the drivers with no display, Typical Catch 22 =/

Am I stuck with buying an APU?

It says on the gigabyte support page that you need to have Bios version F4 to support the athlon x2. Though without any display it's impossible to tell. Do you have a speaker attached to the header on your mobo? If so, do you hear any beeps? If so, Please post he beep code/pattern here.

I think Intel Celeron may be correct and its impossible to tell the bios revision with no display unless you have the motherboard manual there to tell otherwise.

Bios revision downloads are here, will need to upgrade to F4 as mentioned.

http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4374#bios

According to this site and guessing your bios is version F2 relating to revision 1.0 motherboard is possible will only accept the cpus with F2 next to them for now.

Looks like you're pretty much stuck without a cpu to go with the motherboard natively without any adjustments.

Hey thanks for all the input guys... I have a seperate GPU and the ouput there works fine, I got a post speaker, and whaddya know I get the code for a Memory fault. A bit of research there reveals that I have accidentally installed Server RAM. ah well... Live and Learn
