So I don't think I should be worried, but have a laptop with a i7 and a GTX 660m, and i don't want it to be out performing a PC I would like to build, if it would there would be no point in buying it.
The laptop is the Lenovo Y580
- i7-3630QM
- GTX 660m
- 8gb RAM

I just want to know that it won't out perform this: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/f27XVn

Thanks, Probably a really stupid question.

Solution
No it wont.
Desktop components work at full performance as there is no restriction of power requirement and cooling.

However, for the case of laptops in order to save battery and provide longer time period + restriction in cooling of components, they under perform.

So, ur desktop i5 will outperform ur laptop even if ur laptop has i7.
