Hey im not a complete noob at overclocking and i had a stable overclock of 4.6ghz. Just today i found out that i want running on stock clocks. i tried to overclock it back but it wouldnt let me change the cpu ratio past 38. I can change the BCLK but not the Cpu ratio. Please help!
Also what settings do i use if i change the BCLK to get a 4.6ghz overclock. And what settings do i enable/disable or auto?

PC Specs:
asrock z77 pro3
kingston 8gb 1333mhz ram
radeon r9 280 2gb
i5-3570k
750watt powersupply
Custom Water cooling loop

If you change the bclk you are going to have to change the multipliers of all the other devices that operate off the bclk too. Best not to do that for now. Try resetting everything back to default. Reset the CMOS jumper if necessary. See if the issue is still present.

+1 on default settings from jumper or even running the default settings tool in BIOS.

Well see i was ok overclocking in the bios then i wanted to try out the Asrock Extreme tuning utility so i installed that and then i couldnt change the cpu ratio pasted 38 in the bios or the tuning utility.
By the way i uninstalled it and it still wouldnt let me put the cpu ratio pasted 38.

That's really strange. I've never seen that happen before. If it were mine, I'd consider a BIOS upgrade or re-flash if it will let you. Is this the setting you can't change past 38? Do you have Turbo disabled?

That motherboard has internet flash BIOS update. I'd run the BIOS update check and install the new BIOS version if one is available. Just go in the BIOS and run the utility. If your BIOS version is already version 2.10 you don't need to do that but in that case you might want to reinstall the BIOS image anyhow to reset everything back to actual defaults. You can download the BIOS image here if you need to:

You can find the flashing instructions here: http://www.asrock.com/support/BIOSUI.asp?cat=BIOS7

Yer i thought that that might be the problem so i tired to update and was successful. (bios update 2.10)
Also how do i disable turbo? Ive been looking all through my bios and cant find anything.

Exactly, it's right there in the screenshot. Intel turbo boost technology. Just disable that and then see if you can change the settings. You might have to change the bclk from auto to manual to go higher on your ratio, even if you don't mess with the bclk settings at all.

Ok i disable it but when i change thr CPU Ratio setting to All core it changed it back to auto... and even then i still cant change it past 38. By the way im sorry im kinda a noob at overclocking.

Nothing to be sorry about. It's a learning experience for everybody here, including guys that have been doing it over 20 years. Anyhow, I'll see what I can find out further on this issue as it's not one I've run through before. Maybe somebody else has some input in the meantime?

well i emailed asrock support and they said they would send me a new bios rom chip

Hee, hee. I think you mean socketed. I'm sure nobody punched his ROM chip. Well, they might have. Might be the problem. Heh. Just kidding.

I think you should read the thread located at the following link, and then contact ASRock and see if you can RMA the board in the event the ROM replacement doesn't work, which it seems likely that it won't after reading the info on this page. You contact them and tell them you are aware that this is a recurrent problem with this board, even provide the link to them if necessary, although I think they will already be aware of it. Tell them you want the whole board RMA'd. If you are still under your purchase warranty with whomever you bought it from, I'd send it back and get something else. Here's the thread and I think I'd consider this solved. Heh.
