Asrock 970 PRO 3 R2.0+ fx 8350 wattage

hi, so i want to upgrade my gpu and cpu and i was wondering if an fx 8350's power reqs are compatible with my MOBO. and i also wanted to know if an cpu cooler also adds too the MOBO maximum cpu power support.

Yes that mobo will be able to run fx 8350, i had mine on it clocked at 4,7ghz with custom vrm cooling, vrm's on it will become an issue if you plan to overclock it , youlll need some cooling on them and they are only 4+1 phases design, but it will definetly handle a stock fx 8350 without issues, and no coller wont change anything much, just make your cpu cooler, and helping to oc cpu

whatever noctua cooler you can get(keep in mind atleast 150w), they are regarded as the best silent one, or dark rock pro 2 or 3 would be good

well the cooler should be able to dissipate at least 150w heat coming from that cpu, even tough it's tdp is rated @ 125w, the heat that thing puts out is huge, so a cooler with a 150w tdp rating atlest

but its power usage isn't 150 watt is it?

nah its up to 125w when full load @4,0 ghz stock, if you oc it will go way up, mine @ 5,0ghz consumed somewhere between 200w and 300w

thank you, and will a 550 Watt psu be enough for the 8350 and an r9 290 tri-x?

i would go 650w, 550w will barely cut it when you plug in hdd with optical drive and ram, you system at full load would be pulling around 560w
