I have 4 external fans attached to my motherboard. The front, rear, and two additional fans attached to the top. Today I realised one of my additional top fans is particularly loud, but quite effective (putting my hand over it, can feel a lot of wind). However, this fan isn't detectable in CPUID nor in my BIOS. It seems to be defaulting at some top RPM when turning the computer on. This is fairly unnecessary, especially when idling.
My motherboard is the Gigabyte Z87X-UD3H. When I take out this fan, my computer is basically noise-less. Would the inability to detect this fan be a fault with the motherboard? There are no other fan slots I can try. Should I just disconnect this fan, and shove it back in when I reach a point in gaming that my computer can't handle temperatures even with three fans?
This fan is slotted in to SYSFAN4. The others are in 3,2,1 (and of course there is the CPU fan).
