Manufacturer site for mobo says i7 4790k is supported after a bios update of 1.3. I currently can't get a screen and have been through a lot of trouble shooting. I'm fully under the impression the issue is the bios but my one responder in a previous post as well as some friends disagree. I need you guys to help me find a way to update my bios and see if that's the problem. I don't have an extra cpu on hand but I can try and coherce a friend into taking his i5 out and letting me try. But only with your recommendation!

There should be a sticker on the motherboard's BIOS chip. Check the BIOS version on it.

Wow thank you so much. Its the version supported by my cpu, P 1.30. Now I really can't think of what could be my problem.

Thank you so much for the consideration. I actually feel terrible because it turns out there were broken pins on my motherboard. The socket is so small and was new to me, so I unfortunately misjudged what i was looking at as part of the design! Only when I took the cpu out a third time did I use a magnifying glass and then view photos of how an undamaged one should look. I certainly feel like these were terrible rookie mistakes.
