My new rig(in operation):

Case: Cooler Master Haf XM (side-window)
Processor: Intel I7-4790
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 7
Ram: Kingston Hyper-x Fury 1866MHZ (2x8GB)
GPU: MSI R9 280X Gaming
PSU: Corsair ax860
HDD: 1 x 2TB WD Green
1 x 2TB Seagate Barracuda
1 x 1TB WD Green (old but less than 1 year old)
2 x 1TB Seagate Barracuda (almost dead)
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
Optical: Dell optical disk
Fans: 3 x (included fans from the case)
1 x 200mm (top)
1 x on HDD bays?? (from old Dell rig)

Since this is my purposed new rig that I am gonna build, I was wondering, since a lot of these components, eg: ram, GPU, Motherboard can overclock, but my cpu can't since is "non-k"...

I was wondering whether I can overclock only those components to get better performance? I can turn on the "turbo boost" of the cpu, but I dont know whether it can help me do that...

Or is it that you MUST have the k-series cpu in order to overclock the components? or the components cannot be individually overclock since cpu is the brain??

Thanks In Advance

As far as the CPU, go ahead and leave turbo boost on all the time. You can over clock the RAM and GPU. However, GPU over clocking is tricky business, something I would stay away from unless you NEED to. Same thing with overclocking RAM. It can cause issues, such as not booting, errors and other odd stuff. It can also cause blue screens.
