There are a number of ways to get to it, but you're looking for a Control Panel function called "Create and format hard disk partitions". Easiest way is to use the search function. Once you open that, all of your drives should be displayed and all of the settings functions to rename and manage volumes and partitions are there using the toolbar or right-clicking on the appropriate drive. To change a drive letter, the letter has to be unoccupied. For example, if you want to make your HDD the D: drive, you have to rename or remove the current D:, approve the option to restart Windows (a pop-up window), then change your HDD name from F: to D:.
Make sure you have your support CDs handy and either a Windows install disk or thumbdrive. If you have no personal files on the HDD, insert your installation disk or thumbdrive and power down the laptop (If any pop-ups come up asking if you want to install, etc, select "No"). Remove the HDD and install the SSD and power up again. It should go straight to Windows installation options. Complete the installation, then power down again. Install the HDD and power up again and reformat the HDD.

Prior to booting, you'll want to go into your BIOS (hit "DEL" during boot) and find your laptop's boot priorities. Change this to CD/DVD or USB as appropriate for your Windows installation media.

This is the simplified version - if you have any issues during the process, just let us know.

Thank you for your response. I seem to have everything working correctly and my laptop boots extremely fast. How to I get rid of the partition that seems to be on my hdd? My ssd is c: and it created a data D:. I now have a F: and a G: data on my hhd. My optical drive is E:. How do I get the F: and G: to just a F: ?
