Hello,

I recently changed form factors for my main build to M-ATX, I have been having some issues with my CPU fan, when I play a game and my CPU starts warming up, as soon as it touches 50 C... ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE, my CPU fan goes from a very reasonable 2500-3000 rpm to over 6000 RPM!!!

What I want to do is make a max RPM that my fan could run so it doesn't sound like an air conditioner next to me. i have looked through speed fan but it doesn't work for me, ive looked in the bios but there is nowhere to change any fan speeds, I've used easy tune 6 to set a custom fan profile but it doesn't listen to that once it reaches 50 C

build
mobo: gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 (am3+)
CPU: amd 8320 stock cooler
case: bitfenix prodigy M
GPU: gigabyte gtx 770 4gb
psu 600 watt
windows 7 home premium

I'm going to get a new cooler either Monday or Friday but I'm looking for something to just keep down the rpm temporarily so my ears don't bleed for the next few days.

i was in the system bios for an hour yesterday looking but only thing i could find is a setting the basically 100% all the time if diasabled, i have it enabled so i can use easytune for the (not working) fan profile.

The maximum junction temperature is always higher than package since the package sits between the CPU die and the heatsink/air.

There has not been CPUs rated for low maximum temperatures like 70C in about 15 years... pretty much everything from both Intel and AMD produced in this millennium has been rated for 90+C TJmax.

The junction temperatures are in the manufacturers' respective thermal design specifications.

I just ran a quick 5 minute prime 95 test, and the cpu only got to a max of 53C but the fan was at nearly 7000 rpm and as soon as the cpu was under 50 C the rpm dropped to under 3500. in case you were curious

so does anyone know how i can max the cpu fan max rpm, because this is still a question and not a disscussion.

Well, if your BIOS has no (working) option to adjust it, you will either have to live with it as-is, add an aftermarket fan controller to override whatever the motherboard is doing or hack it by cutting wires and adding resistors or whatever other method you might want to use to change the fan's RPM.
