That's the preferred prime95 test for working up an OC, yes. But you need to run it much longer to prove out stability. At least an hour. Time enough to heat up all the components. Be sure to monitor temps during the run. Do you have a stock cooler or an aftermarket one?

Another test I like to use between increases in OC settings is Intel Burn Test. Running it at the default 10 pass run will prove out stability is less time. When it fails, you know you've reached beyond the max. But even then, I will run at least an hour of prime95 afterwards to prove stability over the long haul.

Yes i have intel's "default" stock cooler for 775. But I tried out some games, and i can't say that i've noticed any performance increase whatsoever, only temperature is increased from about 50-55max to 70max...

Those temps are getting a bit warm for continual use. If it is just an occasional peak in prime95, it's OK. But if that is your gaming temps, I'd consider an aftermarket cooler.
What apps were you expecting to see a performance increase in, games? If so, what gfx card do you have?

I don't know it it were occasional peaks but i used RealTemp and it said that my max temp was 70. Yes, I was expecting improvement in games, mainly Battlefield 3 and 4, 3 i can play nicely but 4 is still unplayable because of stuttering. I'm using Sapphire HD5770.

I should have also asked at what resolution you were playing. But if you got that old dual core up to 3GHZ, you can probably go with a faster card w/o fear of bottleneck. Or at least not enough to worry about in any but the most CPU-centric games. Most games are GPU demanding. I'm sure your card is holding you back.

I don't know, i think that the cpu is the bottlenecking actually. When i ran evga precision x in far cry 3 it said:
GPU: 850 MHz, 69C, 1.125V, 52%
And Im afraid that those 52% are usage of the gpu? If not, how can i check the usage?

That old Dual core at 3GHZ should be able to keep up with the HD 5770.
