I have the corsair spec 01 gaming case and I was wondering if the 212 evo cooler will fit? I will be using an i5 4670k cpu. If not? Which cooler should I use?

The EVO is 160mm tall, where the case supports heatsink height up to 150mm only :(

Do you know what the height of the 212 is? I think I can fit 158mm

According to Newegg, the 212 EVO is only 120mm tall and your case supports 150mm.

No the spec-01 will not fit the Cooler master 212. If you want a list of compatible CPU coolers:

You could grab the Noctua NH-U9B if you want air cooling
Or if you're willing to spend money there are several liquid cooling solutions that would work.

The Noctua NH-U9B doesn't support the 1150 socket

I belive that measurement is for the width not the height which is 159mm. The actual aluminum sink is 120mm (same as the diameter of the fan that attaches to it) then add to that the space between it and the CPU and you have 159mm.

So what fan is best?

Ah missed that my apologies you are correct. The Noctua NH-L9i could be used instead.

Looking them over you have a couple choices
Zalman CNPS5X Performa
Noctua NH-C14
Noctua NH-L9i

The EVO will not fit in any of the Spec series cases , that's why I don't recommend them.

If they would have made the Spec series wider they could have sold more of them.

Does the Zalman CNPS5X Performa even support 1150?

It's good practice to check someplace other than amazon which I've always found to be kind of light on technical details and high in price. Try using pcpartpicker.com or newegg.

Or, you could spend a little cash and go for at least a 120mm water cooler.
