I would like to use the Noctua NH-D15 with 2x8Gb of Gskill trident Ram. I'm pretty sure though the fan is too big to use the ram. Would anyone recommend another fan or is better to get RAM that will fit and keep the cooler. I'm only using one GTX780 so I'm not sure if I need such a huge fan...

The GPU has nothing to do with the cooling fans on the CPU cooler.

You can just remove the Tridents' heat spreaders and it'll fit fine. I have Tridents on my board with my D14. The spreaders look cool, but they're not necessary.

Great CPU coolers are hard to find. Much easier to get some low profile RAM. I have the Noctua NH D14 which is very similar to the NH D15. I also have Crucial Ballistix Tactical LP RAM which is very good 1600 MHz CL 8 RAM. I highly recommend both!

I have a Zalman cnps9900 MAX. It only cost $50 and cools the same as an h100i. It also is not too large at all. It doesn't interfere with ANY RAM no matter if it is 5 inches tall.

Thanks for all the great answers & options. volcanoscout, are you sure taking off the heat spreaders won't impact on the performance or can a degrade to the Tridents?

Absolutely. In fact, G.Skill provides instructions for removing them and it does not void the warranty. It's not hard - just one small screw holds it on.

DDR3 RAM does not even get warm to the touch. All Heatsinks are 100% for show.
