Problem: system freezes up

Hello all,

I recently built a system for a friend of mine and came across one of the strangest oddities I have ever seen.

The system:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1J5FagXrm7Y-LRw375YKjdkPGKmiP-HqNd4w23qscWhY/edit?usp=docslist_api

It's the AMD build.

Now once I installed everything in an older case, as requested by my friend, installed win 8.1 and everything ran smooth and fine. So I went to bring him the system the other day. On the way I picked up a sata DVD station and installed it at his place.

After booting the system, everything started getting so slow up to the point of freezing up. Sometimes it broke through but then after a minute or so, would run unbearably slow.

I couldn't understand and thought it was temp issues. But temps were fine. 36°C.

Then I unplugged the DVD station. Sata and power plug. Still no change.

So I took it back home and performed a clean install. Everything worked just fine again. Installed all drivers up to the latest again, no troubles. Then, as a request, I added in an old HDD. So again a second sata device. Booted ... Exactly the same troubles! Slow and freezes up. Seems not to be a gfx card issue, but rather a HDD issue. Like it doesn't want to read/write. I don't know. Anyway, unplugged the extra HDD, including power. Problem remains. And I think it will do so until next clean install of win8.1...

Any of you experienced this before?

Thanks!

Tried all random combinations my friend. It seems as though it has nothing to do with the devices. It has more to do with starting windows with any new device, and the system starts going very slow. Disconnecting the device, starting up: problem remains. So it's not a voltage issue. Maybe it's a BIOS issue? I have seen there is an update. Funny how I am actually providing solutions for myself here. Thanks for the support so far and I'll let you know if that was the problem for this specific motherboard.

Just for people who stumble upon this, it was lately solved. Turns out the new hard-disk had a manufacturing issue. They replaced the disk and things turned out to work fine! :)
