So... I have an old desktop computer here that I no longer use. The hardware parts from it are pretty old, so they have no use for me anymore. Except for the HDD.

I read that it's possible to turn an internal HDD on an external/portable one, but for that it seems like you need an enclosure or something. So... yesterday I removed the HDD from it but now I don't know exactly what I need to do to turn it into a portable device so I can connect to my new computer.

Do I really need this enclosure thing or something else? I'd like some information.

By the way, this is a little info of said HDD according to a sticker on it:

"Seagate" "Barracuda 7200. 10" "80 Gbytes"

Yup, you really need an enclosure which will provide the power connection and usb connection to make it portable. Considering its an 80gb drive, you can get a nice external portable drive for cheap and with a lot more storage.

BUFFALO MiniStation 500GB USB 3.0 $49.99

Are you sure this enclosure is compatible with my HDD?

I just want to make sure.
