Don't know how to connect to internet

My old inspirion laptop cant connect to the internet. I am used to the wifi symbol and a list of networks popping up but that isn't there. i think i deleted the wireless network thing a while ago and i cont connect. i need a guild on how to connect to the internet on an windows XP.

I had this same problem with a old laptop just download the wireless driver from the website. thats it. i didnt have wireless for 3yrs and then one day i just downloaded it and poof it worked.

i think i went to uninstall uneeded things and uninstalled the wireless configuration

if your didnt see your router name on your laptop then the router is not on.

i see 2 PCs in the corner with an x on them. When i click them i get files like 1394 connection and Network Setup wizzard and local area connection

yeah that means that the pcs are not on the internet. second go to the manfucturer of the wifi card do you know their name. go to dells site in fact they have the latest for you.

It says LOCAL AREA CONNECTION 3
Network cable unplugged and it is because its refering to our old network not our new one
