Computer shutting off, fans and lights in tower still on

Hello everyone, I'd really appreciate some help with a problem I am having.

I recently purchased a CyberpowerPC from Newegg (Specs and link listed below) and i'm having problems while gaming or rendering videos. The computer seems to 'shut off', both of my monitors go black, sounds coming from my headphones stop, my keyboard and mouse lights go off.

But the fans and the lights inside of my tower stay on as do the power button on top. I have to turn the power off and back on to restart the system.

Some internet searching has led me to either overheating of the CPU or an insufficient power supply. The only thing I have changed on the computer is I upgraded the Graphics Card from a Nvidia 610 to a Geforce 750ti.

Any help in narrowing this problem down and/or product recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

close enough... though that is a strange error.

I just looked up your power supply... wow... what a junker... I'm changing my mind and going with the crowd on this one. Replace the psu NOW. not sure that will fix your issue, but i couldn't advise you to use that PSU another minute. Even if it's a bum gpu or something overheating, that psu WILL be an issue at some point in time in the future. every psu Aptivia makes is on...

The PSU seems to be quite low for that configuration. I think the problem is there. The FX series are insane power-eaters. Also, the PSU capacitors degrade by age, thus became less efficient.

if it powers down like you just pulled the plug... that's 100% an overheating issue. SOMETHING is overheating. I'd contact cyberpowerPC... since you bought it from them, i suspect this is covered under a warranty. Sure you can fix it yourself, but if you're going to pay cyberpower a premium (over what it would have cost to build that yourself) to build you a system you might as well get the most out of that service.

if it's resetting, programs crashing, blue screening, or freezing... that might be a power supply issue. No... shutting down like you pulled the plug is 100% heat related.

Well that's kind of the thing, technically it doesn't shut down like i'm pulling the plug because the lights and the fan and the power button all stay working. It's the operating system/keyboard/mouse/sounds that all turn off. The computer doesn't restart until I turn the computer off then back on again.

Strange, maybe that 750 ti is a faulty one, try to send it for refund, but first chech everything is powered inside computer. You may have pulled a cable out while changing GPUs.

Even if it's a bum gpu or something overheating, that psu WILL be an issue at some point in time in the future. every psu Aptivia makes is on tier 5 of the Eggxpert Tiered Power Supply list

I'll quote from that list what a teir 5 psu is

"Tier 5 power supplies are NOT RECOMMENDED. If you have one, you should strongly consider replacing it ASAP. These can damage your computer, and often cannot put out the power that they're rated for. If a brand name is listed here, then all models from that brand name are considered to be Tier 5, except for those specific models listed above. "

From what I've found looking around, nothing contradicts this advice. Please replace that psu now. That cyberpower put that unit into your computer is just another example of why you should never to buy a premade system again.

Actually no that is one of the selling points I liked about the 750ti is it doesn't hook up an extra cable to your power supply.

Ok so power supply it is. I am also going to go ahead and buy a better cooling system since i'm going to have to change out parts anyway. So next part of the question is do you guys have any suggestions for what Wattage size Power Supply I should get for my specs listed above as well as I mid-range priced cooling fan or system.

You guys have been very helpful so far! I really thank you for that!
