Hi so I finally fixed a problem yesterday that I had for a couple days and that is that my CPU usage is 50% when idle and over 100% when playing games so playing games is out of the question. I deleted the drivers of my USB wireless adapter Belkin and I reinstalled it using the CD and it went away but this morning it's back. How do I get rid of this damn thing once and for all? Yesterday I had the smoothest gaming experience I've never had in a while so please help me get rid of this thing called "NT kernel & and system!"

More about : kernel system

Sounds like you should buy a new wireless adapter and uninstall your belkin drivers again.

Also the NT kernel is the name of the kernel that windows uses. It has been present in every iteration of windows since windows 2000.

Wait is it a process in the task manager? Sounds like you might have a nasty trogan or virus as I've never heard of or seen any windows process called that.

Check out this thread as it seems my suspicions may have been wrong. Users in the thread report having high CPU load on idle just like you.

Yea what you linked has nothing to do with my problem. I have a possible rootkit and it disguises as "NT kernel & system" I used to just uninstall my belkin UBS adapter and reinstall and it would fix but not anymore.

I just mixed it up because since I have windows 8 I don't have the description of processes anymore. That is a normal system process. X___X

System is a legit process though...

Ahh, in windows 8 you have to go to the details tab.

(I have Pro tho so maybe it's not in standard edition)

I have three options.
1. Buy a new USB adapter.
2. Use my laptop as a USB adapter which I have done before but I accidentally removed my ethernet controller and it won't install again for some reason.
3. Fix the current issue with my USB adapter.

The TP-Link N900 is a fine adapter but maybe a bit pricey. You could go lower to the N600 or something instead. Also I'm on 8.1 and I just had to go to the details tab too lol. Didn't notice it for some reason.
