Hi, i have an MSI H55M-E33 and an i3 530 @3.52GHz with Noctua NH-D14.
I have to change my RAM since one of my 2 old stick (2x2gb) just passed out :pt1cable:
I had RAM Frequency @1333MHz, even tought i've been able to take them to 1600MHz.
The new ram i want to buy is 2x4gb Kingston Hyper X Fury @1866MHz.
On my mobo specs i see i can only reach that frequency by overclocking. I find this confusing :heink: . I know that the mobo will use the ram @1600MHz (max supported default), but why i need to "OVERCLOCK" to reach my new ram default frequency so what do i have to do after i install them

It depends on the capabilities of the MC (memory controller) as to how high a freq you can go, often times it requires OCing the CPU to reach a given freq, as here, however your i3 is not an OCing type CPU, so 1600 may be max, and actually going to 4 sticks of DRAM it may top out at 1333

Actually my CPU IS Overclockable [i'm running @3.45GHz from the stock 2.9GHz], can't go any further because of low RAM frequency (1333MHz), that's why i want to buy new RAM.
Now, is 1600MHz still my max ram frequency? :??:

EDIT: I overclocked from BIOS, not with nasty programs. I can set base cpu frequency, its multiplier, ram timing and frequency and every voltage

My bad, was thinking of a different one, sorry :(  Can give the Fury's a try, may have to set up manually, these use PnP opposed to XMP for setup

As far as i know PnP automatically configures RAM frequency, right? However i should be able to set it manually anyways like in XMP....
Anyways, now that you know my PC can be overclocked (CPU Freq, Multiplier, RAM Freq, Timings and all voltages), you didn't tell me what frequency i will actually be able to get from the RAM. I've been able to overclock my actual RAM from 1333 to 1600, will i be able to use all the 1866MHz from Kingston Fury RAM?

Should be yes, I haven't had a chance to play with the Fury sticks yet

Hi, i bought these stick however i am not even able to boot with them.
I may need an hand configuring timing probably.
On single channel i get BSoD, crashes, restarts and not even memtest can load
On dual channel i get stuck on mobo screen and no beep...
Refer to this tread i made : http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2274457/kingst...

May have a 530 that is just short on handling the sticks or the sticks may not be setting up ( a reason most all sticks run on XMP), might go into the BIOS and raise the DRAM voltage to 1.6 and give that a try - if no joy give me a shout and we'll add a little voltage to the MC (memory controller) or drop them to run at 1600
