3610qm correct core speed

hello my stock core speed is 2300 MHz but speccy is saying it is running at around 3094.8 MHz on all cores this is when pc is idle .is this a problem ?it used to idle around 2.3mhz thanks for any insights suggested .

What does Task Manager say? (In Windows 8, there's a "Performance" tab that monitors this)

When in doubt, try multiple programs. Check out CPU-Z.

Additionally, while CPU mining malware is rare, it does exist. Make sure there's no malware adding bloat to your system and jacking up your CPU frequency.

Yes thanks I ended up doing A clean install your answer gave me a big clue to to issue because of other issues I was having I believe but can not confirm I had picked up a data mining malware as these issues started after I downloaded a patched game I could not make any sense of them until I read about mining software(never heard about it until you mentioned it) then it all made sense thank again cheers Neil
