Speakers work and is plugged into green rear jack

I'm using a MSI x79a motherboard and my pc is picking up the speakers in the jack and my speakers do work along with the hyfi but there is still no sound help?

Check audio device in control panel, device manager is working properly.

If so, make sure output is speakers in control panel, audio manager.

If so, try other speakers.

If still no go replace the motherboard.

Sometimes a new board right out of the box is defective.

At least it'll be easy to RMA. But make those checks first.
