Hi there,

you've probably heard this question so many times from people wondering whether they should overclock their cpu, ram and gpu. For me it's not a problem of being scared or ruining anything, of course I don't want to over do it but I would like to try doing it a bit if it is worth it. I mainly play games which are intensive. Just recently I recieved a Intel DZ87KLT-7K and Intel i7-4770k for free from a friend and I thought I should maybe try overclocking the cpu to use it to it's full potential. But even then, I'm not whether it is worth it just for gaming. Is it possible I can just up the 4770k from 3.5GHz to something like 4.0GHz without having to do anything else complicated involving overclocking ram? Also I might try attempting to OC my gpu using GPU tweak. My gpu is the Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB DirectCU II. So that and the i7 4770k will be good together for gaming and I'm not sure if I should even bother to overclock either of the two? Anyway, I'm not sure whether it is worth it or if I'm set to play games with those two at the basic settings no problem. Thanks in advance! I'm excited to see what is recommended :)  Also I have ordered the Corsair Hydro Series H60 2013/v2 edition to cool the 4770k (I chose it over the Cooler master Hyper 212 Evo due to looks and wanting to experiment with AIO liquid cooling). Oh and I play a mix of games like Arma 3, Battlefield 3/4, DayZ, Borderlands 2 .etc. I heard Arma 3 was a cpu intensive game? Maybe I'd benefit there from OC'ing the 4770k..

AIO cooling isn't worth it unless you get a h100ii or just want your cpu temps as low as possible, but no not really , overclocks are for people with old cpu's who want to stay alive with it for a bit longer, a i7 can keep up with any cpu intensive games, but if you want to overclock for fun, I don't see why not

I've heard people say the same thing about getting H100i. The thing is I didn't have the money to get a H100i and wanted to get a AIO liquid cooler for good looks and the H60 2013 edition had good reviews, looked nice and is a good entry level AIO liquid cooling solution. I could have easily gone with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo but I really didn't like the looks. Anyway is it possible I could just go in the BIOS and up the 4770k from 3.5GHz to 4.GHz without any worries of adjusting other things (I'm not experienced in this).

Phanteks do some nice cpu coolers with nice colours but since you've already got the AIO, it's too late anyways :p  But you don't need to overclock unless it's for fun really

Yeah I looked at the Phanteks PH-TC12DX and thought long whether to choose that or the Corsair H60 2013 edition and in the end picked the Corsair H60 as it was little bit cheaper and would look sexier! :D

Yup, some prefer air coolers and some don't. I haven't tried an air cooler personally or AIO liquid cooler but I preferred the look of AIO liquid cooler and picked that. So you reckon it's not really worth OC'ing for performance, only for the fun of it? Even with cpu intensive games?

Yea, with cpu intensive games like bf4 or far cry 4, you may only see a little fps increase like 1 or 2 fps more, so it's not worth going through all that trouble for that little fps, but if you just want to do it for fun, it's a great chipset to do it with and you have a reasonably good cooler so it should be fine, but for gaming wise, no, you don't need OC

Great! I probably won't end up doing it but I might try just for experience you know if I feel adventurous :p  Thanks a lot for the advice man and the answers :)

np, just make sure to keep a eye out on your cpu core temps when you overclock :)
