Good evening all.

I have an ASUS Z87-Pro that has been in my rig for the better part of a year now.

Originally I had purchased 2 8G sticks of GSKILL PC3 19200 DDR3-2400 when I assembled the computer. During installation I found that having both sticks of RAM in the machine resulted in a 03 Error Code and either a black screen or what appeared to be a short where the computer would lose power before POST and restart, with the whole issue looping over and over.

I chalked it up to the second stick of RAM just being bad (mistake) and continued to run with just 1 8G module since I needed the machine without any downtime for an RMA.

Imagine my surprise today when I go to add two additional sticks of the same type of RAM (exact same unit) and the issues repeats itself.

I'm wondering if there is a simple BIOS configuration issue that I am missing (currently have the most up to date BIOS installed) or if this is an issue indicative of a faulty motherboard and I've shot myself in the foot by not recognizing the issue nine months ago and RMA'ing the board.

Make sure you've got XMP enabled in bios.

If still problems, check the ram with memtest86.

XMP is enabled.

I'll run memtest86 on the RAM but I'm skeptical that three out of four sticks are bad.

Me too.

Make sure your dimm slots are super clean. Make sure the ram is in the correct dimm slots per mobo manual.
