So I have a system I build with a I7 3770k and a Maximus V Formula MB and I want to buy x2 R9 290X to run on a 4k Monitor. I would rather not upgrade anything else if I don't have to. I am getting mixed answers and reviews on different forums and pages so I thought I would ask here. I own a Seasonic Platinum PSU 1000 watts. I think I am ok as I went with a large PSU so I wouldn't have to upgrade much down the road but idk now as I heard the power requirements are high for these cards. here is a link to the PSU I bought. thanks again for the help.

Depends if you're overclocking the cpu. The stock 290x cards in crossfire use around 600W. If you'd get the R9 290x Lightning in crossfire, which have a higher clock rate, would consume more power. You should have enough overhead on your power supply so it will not only last longer (power degrades with use) but also against power spikes. If you leave the 3770k at stock speed while the 290x cards are at stock, you should be fine. If you overclock the cpu as well, 1000W platinum might be just right. At 4.6GHz, it uses about nearly 150W, and the 2 R9 290x cards will use about 600W when under full load.

This means it's about 750W to run the full setup, without fans, motherboard, HDD's, etc. calculated. A Platinum 1000W power supply should...

If you really want to feel safe, A 1.2-1.5 kwatt PSU is not a bad investment, you would want 80 PLUS Gold or higher though...
a 1kw PSU should hold up fine, although it may suffer from high load.
Point is: if you have the cash for 2x r9 290x AND the money to pay for the power costs, you could probably drop a little extra money for a higher wattage PSU.
