Build so far:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer ATX LGA1150

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Video Card: GTX 760 2 way Video Card in SLI mode

1.Gigabyte GTX 760 GDDR5-2GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC WINDFORCE 3X Graphics Cards GV-N760OC-2GD REV2.0

2.EVGA GeForce GTX760 SuperClocked 2GB GDDR5 256bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready

Case: ???????
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i have 3 questions.
first thing is i am looking for a case to go with this build and i am wondering what is a good choice for me. my price range is very flexible but im not looking to spend CRAZY amounts of money for something that is not that much of an improvement. i want a case that is the best for my money.
second is i am wondering if this gaming rig will be able to handle all of the high demanding games like BF4 and crisis 3 on ultra with 60 fps, or if i need a new processor or more memory or something like that.
last thing is that i am very new to building computers and i am just wondering if i am missing anything important to building a gaming pc, i know the sound card is optional and i also have a monitor, mouse/keyboard, and speakers ready for when i want to purchase all of these parts.
THANKS :)
Do you already have a 760 or are you plannning on buying two of them? The Corsair 200R is a great budget case. If you are willing to spend around $100 the Phanteks Enthoo Pro is awesome.
Yes that setup would play those games on ultra.
Even a single 760 overclocked can probably run BF4 Ultra 60fps. The Thermaltake Commander MS series cases are pretty good for the price range.
so i dont actually have any of the parts yet, but once i get enough for all of it im going to buy the parts that i listed :)  and i was thinking that i would start off with the single GTX 760 and ill wait a bit, see how i feel about the single, and if i feel like i want another one then id get the second GTX
Good idea. I wouldn't recommend buying x2 760's at the same time when most likely you probably won't even need a second one.
The basic concept is good, however here's a few points:
1) Get a single GTX880 for about the same price as two GTX760's. You can build the system now and just use the iGPU in the CPU while waiting. No official dates but info coming soon.
*Alternatively, get a GTX860 (if 3GB) for SLI but i can't make final recommendations without knowing price/performance.
2) Don't go SLI with two different cards. You can, but why would you design it that way from the start? Due to the way Alternate Frame Rendering works you want the same performance from each card to minimize frame time variation.
3) I recommend 3GB or more now if planning to spend $400+ on graphics to future proof.
4) CPU: get the i5-4690K (the Devil's Canyon refresh. you can Google that)
5) CPU cooler: The EVO is okay, but if picky about noise it does make a bit in idle and a fair amount under load especially if overclocking. The Noctua NH-U12S costs more but it is dead silent in idle and inaudible over any other fans under load. I built two machines, one with the Noctua and one with the EVO (no graphics cards) and tested them with ONLY this fan running under load. Tested i5-4670K at 4.2GHz.
6) Sound:
I mostly recommend onboard sound now.
7) OS:
Get Windows 8.1 64-bit, but also START8. (do NOT get Windows 7 like some people have been doing. W8 is better in many ways and Start8 takes care of the interface issue. Can still use both interfaces if you want.)
Yes. I'd also look at the R9 280, about the same price but better performance. If you were planning on spending ~$400 on GPUs you'd be better off with a single R9 290, so you wouldn't have to deal with SLI/Crossfire compatibility issues.
Hey biebs12 (I'm pretty sure I helped you out earlier)
1. That all depends on your budget
2. 1 760 will run demanding games on high with 60fps. 2 760s will run games like BF4 with 80-100fps in ultra. But ONLY GET 4GB CARDS FOR SLI! 2gb SLI is pointless
3. Sound card's don't matter unless you have a $1000 set of headphones and need perfect audio
Also one quick question I have for you; Which brand and type of cooler are you going with for your 760?
Well he said he wants to play Crysis 3 on Ultra at 60FPS and you can't do that with a single GTX760. I'm not saying a GTX760 can't run Crysis 3 nicely if tweaked properly but he's not going to be playing at maxed settings for a lot of the current games.
I still stand at holding out a bit longer to get more solid Maxwell GTX860, 870 and 880 pricing and performance information.
EVGA Geforce GTX 760 with the ACX cooler
and my maximum price for a case would be 150 dollars
also, does the 760 even utilize more then 2GB of RAM? i thought it is designed to use 2GB.
Ok I still have some more:
What is your budget for a case?
Does it matter if it's small or large?
Are you planning to watercool in the future?
After those questions I can recommend the right case(s) for you
I reckon a single R9 280 would work perfectly because you can just overclock the hell out of it (keep an eye on temps, tweak fan speeds) and get higher performance than a 760. I bought a 7950 over a 760 (RX 2XX series wasn't released back then) because it seems to slightly outperform it. Only thing is I'm having some problems with this card and will need repairs or replacement. However, you buy what would suit you better, follow your own liking's and personal opinion.
1. i wouldnt want to spend more than 150, anything up to and below as long as its worth my money im fine with buying
2. i would prefer a larger case
3. no i dont have plans to watercool in the future
Because you have a red motherboard (And possible red ram) I'd check out the red/black NZXT H440
sweet this case looks pretty good! i think i might go with it :)
Haha sounds good! Just a heads-up that you'll need an external (USB) optical drive as the H440 has no 5.25" drive bays (Though it looks so awesome without them)
Well here in Canada, R9 290s are either cheap ($410-$420) or expensive ($520). The BEST model of the R9 290 IMO would be the Sapphire Vapor-X, though it's also the most expensive (At least here it is). I'd recommend either the Gigabyte Windforce R9 290, or the Sapphire Tri-X. Whatever you do avoid the ASUS model (The heatpipes do not touch the GPU properly)
i live in Canada as well :)
i like the windforce and the sapphire and i would be willing to purchase one, although, i am seeing alot of complaints about a frequent black screen problems :( ...
do you have one of these cards? if so, is the black screening really a big issue or should i still get it? im seeing black screen complaints with both of the cards.
aside from that i think these cards are great for their price and i would love to purchase one.
I'm actually going to do a gaming build soon and I'll probably use the Windforce 290 due to it's cheap price and good cooling. I'm assuming you also read the Newegg reviews? They (The negative ones) mostly come from earlier on in the year (March-May 2014), so that tells me that there was probably a bad batch of 290s. If you get a bad card, you could always RMA it. Gigabyte Customer Support has also commented on most of the negative reviews and provided RMA #s for people on Newegg. I'd say it's worth a shot
Oh yeah I just forgot, I was checking out R9 290 waterblocks the other day, and I came across EK saying something abut their blocks aren't compatible with the Windforce 290s ANYMORE. This means there was most likely a bad batch of 290s that were probably manufactured incorrectly. I also came across some people saying the issue was caused by overheating, which also suggests that there may have been some Windforce coolers that were built wrong. I hope this is true so I can game at 1440p with high settings
ok thats good... i also read into some more of the reviews and majority of them are 5-4 stars (eggs) so ill also get the windforce 290. i think its definitely got a great price for what it has to offer.
thanks again for all of your help today :)
