Hi, I have recently built my own computer. Everything is working fine with a copy of windows 8. However i have noticed my CPU temperatures are very high. Without doing anything (just at the desktop) it goes up to 65 C. When playing a game it goes up to 90-100 C. I have also noticed that it goes down to 50 slowly then shoots back up to 60-70 c. here are my specs.

Amd Athlon x4 760k
Msi A78m_E35
Sapphire Radeon R7 260x
8 gb crucial Ballistix sport
1tb Western digital black
500w corsair cx500
Corsair Spec-o1 red (case)

Btw i have also removed the stock thermal paste and applied arctic silver 5 (I have not noticed a major difference in temps after doing this)
I have not overclocked anything.
Does anyone know what I can do to lower the temps?

Solution
Hmmm that is a little odd.

Are you sure there is enough airflow OUT of your chassis?

What kind of fan setup are you running?

If thats not it, the only other thing you can do is get an aftermarket cooler.

I put a pea size dot in the middle and spread it with a credit card.

That could cause issues as it may spread the paste irregularly causing pocket of air(which is VERY bad).

YOu should apply a little less than pea sized glob, then attach the cooler. As you fasten the cooler(and it presses downwards) the thermal paste will spread perfectly from the middle outwards.

I removed the paste and tried that method. The temps were almost identical to before. Do you have any other recommendations?

I will test that tomorrow and let you know what happens. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

And yes the front is intake and the top is exhaust.

So I tried rearranging the fans in the case but did not get any improvement. By an aftermarket cooler do you mean a new heatsink? If so do you have any recommendations?

Would the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 be a good one?
