Ok so I'm thinking of getting a EVGA 770 super clocked 2gb graphics card, which comes with an 850W power supply. But I've also heard that the new GTX 870 is coming to the market sometime in October, Which is when I plan to buy the 770. Should I get the 870 as soon as it releases or the 770 which has had a little more time to evolve? Any tips would be appreciated.

Original Computer Specs:
Intel i5-3570k @ 3.80GHz
Nvidia GEforce GTX 560 ti
MSI z77MA-G45
8gb Ram (2x4gb, Dual Channel)1600MHz
OCZ 128gb SSD
Corsair Nova 30gb SSD
Seagate 1TB HDD
Hyper 212 plus CPU fan
650W PSU +12V@46A

Where are you getting the card that comes with a PSU?
Regardless, I would pick it up, the cards arent supposed to be released until september, so october is probably pushing it. Also, if you are waiting for hardware you will always be waiting. If you were going to wait, why not skip maxwell? Its better to buy what is out now unless you are within a close time period.

It is a rumor. Don't bother waiting really. Just get the GTX 770 and be happy with it.

I'd wait for the 870 which will likely have 3gb VRAM. 2gb is no longer enough to max games

Any proof of that? I max out any game except BF4 with my 760 2GB.

BF4 uses over 2gb VRAM
Watch Dogs uses 3gb
I've seen people get to >2gb with Crysis 3
Next-gen games like GTA V will most likely use >2gb

It's my understanding that games like BF4 and Watch Dogs will utilize whatever vram is available to it at the time. I've been running BF4 on full settings @1440p with only 2gb cards. Have had no issues. I will add though that it would probably be wise to get a 3gb or 4gb variant if you can as yes the amount of vram used over the next year in games will most likely supersede the 2gb margin.

Added to this, Galaxy I think have confirmed their 880 for october, I'd wait until sept/oct if I were you and take advantage of the clearance sales for the 7XX series

Your current psu is more than enough to run a higher OC and a gtx 770. Why someone would feel the need to pair a 770 with an 850w is beyond me, unless it was a crap psu. Personally I'd either ebay the 850 and live with the 2Gb, or opt for the 4G version. Either card is capable of high-ultra in 99% of today's games @1080p.

Here is the combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite...
I was eventually going to go SLI with this card so I want to be ready with a good PSU that can power both.

Heh, SLI is a whole different beast. In that case, you'd need the 850w, and the Evga G2 is a superb unit. You said it 'comes with', not that you were looking at a combo sale. If you do SLI, you should be running a 4k or multiple monitors, because honestly a stand alone 770 is more than enough for 1080p. That said, running a 4k or multiple monitors would be better served with 3Gb or better cards, so that combo is not quite the deal you'd expect.

So would it be worth it to get a more powerful power supply now if I plan to get SLI in the future, or get a 4gb Card on a 650W power Supply, and then get a better PSU later on? Also, what would be a good 4gb 770 to look into?

You can power a 770 now. Getting a 4Gb is not going to hurt you at all, as games like bf4 and watchdogs will use whatever ram they can, even upto 4Gb. Multiple monitors definitely work better with more vram, so thats a plus. Sli is a thought, an option, not a certainty, so you'd be better off waiting on the bigger psu and second card.

The choice of brands is upto you, all will perform at 770 levels, some slighly better than others. I prefer Evga, Asus and MSI, as i find Gigabyte, PowerColor, Zotac etc too loud, even if they are slightly faster. For the pricepoint, you could also consider something like a Sapphire 290 which has similar, if not better performance, works better with multiple monitor resolutions, even if it does run slightly hotter than a 770.

A decision to SLI is neither easy or hard, but it is expensive. Planning for the end result must begin somewhere. Decide. SLI or not, then build.
