Smudge or dead pixels on new monitor

I got a new Samsung S24D390HL monitor today (on sale for $129!) and I think it may have some sort of unremovable smudge or perhaps damaged pixels on it. I tried lightly tapping it or rubbing it, and am now even trying that flashing light therapy to see if it can fix it, but no results so far.

Here's a picture.

Should I return this (but the sale is sold out in most places now I think, so getting a replacement will be hard)? Plus I don't really want to go through a lengthy warranty period unless I have to.

Solution
Definitely a smudge of some sort. Dead pixels are usually white or black and stuck pixels are clearly red, green, or blue

source: my own monitor has a stuck pixel that won't come out ;_ ;

Hmm I agree, I didn't think it stood out like dead or stuck pixels would. Thanks for clarification between stuck and dead pixel though. It almost looks like a smudge inside the screen. Just not sure if I should deal with it now or return it while I still can.

If it's in a non center area some places won't accept it and replace it for you. If it is in a center area then they usually do. If they give you trouble then call for a manager and if they give you trouble then call for district manager and if they give you trouble you call me and if I give you trouble then you call the ghostbusters and if they give you trouble you call the power rangers and if they give you trouble you call the teletubbies. (Sorry my friend is over here and saw me writing a reply and wanted me to put all this stuff in)

Dead can also be red, green, or blue. A white pixel can't be dead, white means it's on which means it's alive. The color is not an indication of either. The difference from dead vs stuck is if it changes color or not. A stuck pixel is "stuck" showing a color while dead means dead, it doesn't work. A pixel could be stuck on black and look dead but stuck means it could be fixed and dead can't come back to life. There is no way to tell but usually it's not stuck on black. Also a whole pixel might not be dead or stuck, like the red and blue subpixels still work fine but just the green is dead or stuck. We refer to this as a half dead or half stuck pixel.

This is clearly not the pixels since you can see it goes over pixels half way or just a little. You can't have a fraction of a subpixel not working properly. If it's bothering you enough, rma with where you bought it and they should replace it immediately if you bought it from a good store. Warranty should only get involved if the store's return policy is horrible or if the rma period is past. Although some places may still do returns after the period, I've had it happen before. Free, no hassle replacements is a common thing for popular stores. Sales are irrelevant.

Yes it is a very good store known to have a good return policy. The problem is that they are sold out in literally every store, and who knows how long it might take to get new stock. I'm sure they would replace it if they did have stock, but in this case, they'll probably tell me to wait. I'll probably call tomorrow to see though.
