okay so this is my first build ever, and im wanting to be at $800 or less, no more whatsoever. i really feel like this is close to the best i can get for that budget.

CPU: intel i5 4690k ($217 @ microcenter)
MOBO: asrock z97 extreme4 ($76 @ microcenter)
MEMORY: corsair xms3 8gb (2x4) ddr3 1600mhz pc3 12800 ($72 @ newegg)
STORAGE: seagate 1tb sshd ($75 @ ncixus)
GPU: asus nvidia gtx 760 2gb ($230 @ newegg or ncixus)
CASE: diablotek evo mid tower atx ($43 @ microcenter)
PSU: corsair cx750m 80+ bronze certified ($65 @ ncixus)
DISC DRIVE: asus 24x dvdr/rw ($17 @ microcenter)
TOTAL: $795

that being said, i am having a hard time determining whether i should save on my utility bill/energy or whatever, by switching to a lesser wattage psu, and not having potential to sli in the future, and saving a few bucks, or if i should keep the current set up and have that possibility in the future, albeit a much more complicated and potentially problem prone way... if i did go without the option for sli in the future, say in a couple years, i could just throw in a gtx 960 for example by that time and sell the 760 online. Basically i need to determine weather i want my upgrade future to be the difficulties of higher power consumption and sli difficulties, or just simply throwing in a better single gpu when the time comes. i cant decide which would be more cost effective long term, as well as performance effective.

i do know that i need 550w if i decide to not have future sli potential, and 700w if i do decide to have that future potential. but like i said, i dont know which route is better to go. i do know that which ever way i wanna go, i wanna go with a modular psu, so cable management is easier.

i dont understand why i would keep the higher wattage psu right now instead of going to a lower one to save money if im just going to buy a new psu anywas in the future? I imagine future gpu's are going to follow the trend of being more energy efficient too? maybe? but you are suggesting stay with the single card now and in the future just replace it with a new single card, right? not upgrade to sli in the future by adding a card?
