Best place to sell pc? Disappointed

Hey,

So I want to sell my custom built pc that I built about several months back since I think that is my only option unfortunately at this point: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qZjygs

Also, I would much rather sell just my mobo and cpu rather than my whole pc since I have some decent parts if I go intel mobo + cpu.

Basically, the reason I'm selling it is because it can't run any games, and even on medium-high settings I get fps drops to the 30's 40's.

I think it is because of the bad cpu and people suggest I overclock but I also heard that my motherboard is bad for overclocking so I would have to get a new one as well as an aftermarket cooler. If I do that, I would rather get an intel mobo and intel cpu since intel is way better than amd cpu's based on my experiences and also the overclock may net me a few fps more depending on the game rather than the drastic improvements I will get from intel. For example, people who have claimed to to switch from amd cpu to intel report almost double the amount of fps and barely any drops. I'm disappointed it can't run any games without fps drops, even on medium-high settings, thanks to the crap cpu's that amd make, I wish I would have gone intel first. Technically, I don't think my pc is considered a gaming pc anymore, I mean, what kind of gaming pc gets massive fps drops on almost every game even on medium-high settings?

AMD cpu's are basically a joke in my mind and people should stop recommending them for gaming. At first when I played games like TERA, Planetside 2, etc. I accepted that I couldn't max them with stable fps and even lived with the drops because I thought they were not optimized for multiple cores and preferred intel's single core performance. However, when I actually tried some games optimized for AMD, such as bf3/bf4, there are still fps drops with this cpu and in intel cpu's there aren't nearly as many, even though those games support multiple cores. Intel cpu's wipe the floor with amd cpu's, heck even an i3 outperforms my fx 6300.

Nothing is also technically wrong with my pc, I ran benchmarks, temps, etc. everything is fine, even outperformed some people with same setup as me. I just accepted that amd based builds are full of crap, at least mine is.

I'm so disappointed that I spent my money on this load of crap, I feel scammed, AMD is like a trap for unsuspecting people I swear. I even pointed out that I WILL NOT be overclocking and mainly using this pc for mmo's and people still recommended me this cpu saying it will max mmo's fine, and like I said, now I know that even an i3 would be better.

The thoughts that I should have gone with intel are also making me depressed to tell you the truth. I think about it everywhere I go, no matter what I do, where I go, and keep reminding myself that I got a terrible deal and why for the life of me did not go with intel, it's really disappointing. All I wanted to do was play some mmo's with a stable, smooth framerate.

I want to apologize for the numerous amount of threads on this topic, I just feel I needed to get it off my chest somehow.

Thanks to the people that also helped me and gave me tips on my threads. I guess my only option now is to try and sell it and would like some tips as to where to go.

For reference, here are some videos of what I am talking about:

http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2ptcf8i&s=8#.U-XlD_ldU30 (bf4 high settings)

http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2mgt5ax&s=8#.U-cKePldXGO (Defiance)

It's basically like this in every game I've tried (TERA, Firefall, Diablo 3, Bf3, Bf4, Planetside 2, Defiance) besides old games like league of legends, but come on, even my laptop can run that lol.

Thanks for the suggestios. Would it be better if I got a new mobo / intel cpu or just sell the whole pc?

No worries. If you will be playing high end games. In my opinion, I would see the hole pc and use that money and build a decent one. ;)

I see, also what do you consider to be high end games? Because I play games like TERA, Firefall, Diablo 3, and bf3 mainly. I don't consider them to be high end like crysis 3 or metro/watch dogs status. I thought my build could max those easily with good and steady fps. I only chose this build because people told me it'll max the games I like to play (MMO's) easily but it's not.

Well it varies. In bf4 for example my gpu usage is 40-60%, however in bf3 its in the 90%'s and in Planetside 2 it is there as well. So I guess it depends on the game to be honest. From the benchmarks I did on 3d mark they said my gpu was good but cpu was lacking so I'm not really sure.

I see. I always thought it was my cpu because most of the games I play aren't that optimized for multiple core usage. And the people I talked to in-game, some of them had the same gpu as me but they had intel cpu and were getting much better fps than me. So that's why I think it may still be my cpu.

There is that, the Intel CPUs are better single-threaded (and a few other thigns), but sometimes we fight the war with what we have and you may want to consider what gives you the best bang for your upgrade buck. It's not that I'm a fan of AMD - I haven't built or owned a computer with an AMD chip since the Opteron (ca. 2000?) but I'm trying to make sure you end up with something that will be better, ultimately.

Earlier today, one of the more experienced contributors here posted this link: http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=3060&game=Battlefield%204#menu

It's a good place to compare your PC against others and what expectations you can have if you upgrade components.

Thanks for the link. Yeah I think my pc is good for what it is, I compared my statistics to others in 3d mark benchmarks and I actually scored higher than some with same setup as me. I guess I was just expecting more in games from this pc. If I ever sell I would want to go intel obviously but doing that I would need to either sell either mobo/cpu and get intel mobo/cpu or just sell the whole system in general and buy a new one, however, I don't know how much, for example, an i5 system would be and how much my system could go for if I sell.

In my experience, selling a custom-built PC is tricky - you're likely to not get much more than about 50% of the cost of the parts back. So it's best to tun it into the ground, so to speak and get as much out of it as you can.

I would imagine that an entry-level Intel i5 custom PC would be around $850. You can buy some from major vendors like Dell, Lenovo and HP for about that much as well. I'm sitting pretty with an i5-3750K I built last year for about$1,200 (over provisioned some parts like the PSU and I never use all 32GB of RAM). I'm hoping to get another 2 years or so out of this one. I have another older i5-2500K that I'll be looking to replace maybe later this year - it's running OK, but it's got a few niggles I don't like very much.

Yeah you're right about the selling part. I guess I will just stick with my pc for now. I am happy with it in truth but it's just that the games I play aren't really that optimized to using amd's multiple cores which is why people on Intel are a lot better off due to single core performance. I'm not sure if in the future games and MMO's in general will take advantage of multiple cores. People have said that with ps4 out and since it uses multiple cores, games will start to become more optimized towards amd multiple cores and I hope it's true. I just hope games like mmorpgs which is the main genre I play will take use of multiple cores in the future. Until then I guess I'll let time take it's course, see what happens, and maybe when I get a job I'll build a new one haha.
