So I finished building my gaming pc rig, but when I play a game it keeps on freezing after a while. I have 2 r9 290x in crossfire and a core i7-4790k with a 850 watt psu. Could the problem be an inadequate power supply?

That should be enough.A very good psu.

Try the next for some temp readings,

Download the next program,

http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html

You can open hwinfo32,after that open the sensor window by marking sensors=V,after click run,,then click at the bottom "Logging start" ,after that choose a name and place for the log.like Hwinfolog at your desktop.Leave it open and do game/stresstest or whatever you do until a crash. The log will end at that point but will be saved.
After the restart upload the log to a site without to much crap (!),for instance dropbox, and leave a link to it here. You could also look at the log yourself with either excel or libre office calc.

Good point, he should be fine if he doesn't overclock. And also, if he does overclock, tweaktown measured 1050w for the CF, and they're using an AX1200i, so it is quite efficient. (I mean they're not using some junk under 80% efficiency, where it would actually be quite a bit lower than 850w)

Guys I just tried updating the software. It won't update the newest 14.1 driver and I think this is the problem. I have compatibility issues and I tried deleting all the drivers for a clean install but I can't seem to get rid of the program x86 ati folder it says it is in use!
