resurrectiones of bad sector hdd

uhm... about my dead hdd i was wondering (the sata power is connected already to dead hdd) if its alright that i pull-off the sata cord and turn on my desktop (i'm running b.new hdd) what i'm trying to do is, can I put back the sata cord in it? is there any possibilities that it might happen bad/worst?

Should I imply?

my 2nd question is can i directly plug-in and out sata power and cable to hdd laptop 2.5 into desktop psu and sata board? without enclosure?

P.S.: Pros and Cons. Thanks in advanced! GOd bless! ciao xD

  1. I notice your English is difficult. I am trying to answer as simple as I can. Please ask if you need more explanation or if you do not understand. I apologize if I did not understand your questions correctly.

SATA devices can not be hot plugged - that is the power and data connections cannot be removed while the computer is running - unless they are in correct cages that support hot swap.

If you simply have bad sectors on the drive, connecting it again will not make it worse. If you have failing drive mechanics that cause mechanical failures, connecting it again will make it worse.

    Same for failing electronics.

you can connect a 2.5 inch laptop drive to a desktop computer. the connections are the same. Many 3.5-inch drive bays in new cases have possibility of mounting smaller drives. If not, it is recommended that you get a cheap adapter to hold the drive securely, It may move and cause some problems if not secured properly. For short time periods you fo not need to fix it in place.
