hi everyone,

I am new here and this is my first thread.I really need your help...

my story so far...

It all began 2 days ago.I was as usual playing fifa14 and 10 minutes into the game the screen suddenly began tearing and horizontal lines started to appear.I turned off the game to see the same problem in the desktop too. After a reboot it was gone,

But when i started Crysis warhead on loading screen the problem came back. This time there was also vertical screen splitting.I reinstalled AMD Catalyst driver (v14.4) and It did not help.I event reinstalled windows (Win 8.1).

Yesterday when i tried to install Catalyst driver the screen would go black and driver wouldn't install and i had to directly power off UPS.I tried to install i may time but i could not.

After a while of trying and manually restarting the system, it would not boot at all.while booting the windows logo shows up then the black screen. Everything works fine with Integrated GPU.

Could this mean that my GPU(Bought 2 years ago) is dead or some other issue...

please help me out guys. I really have no clue what to do...

Here is what i did in short:

-Re-Installed Amd Catalyst drivers (v14.4 and v12.1(Came with the card))
-Re-Installed Windows 8.1.

-Used gpu-z to monitor and everything was normal. (GPU temperature 45-65)
-Used fur-mark but screen would go out with some colors (light pink and orange i guess)

-ran memtestx86+ (2 passes and 0 errors)
-ran vram-stress-test v1.21 and also no errors.

-Reseated the GPU

My spec:

processor : intel core2duo E7500 @2.93ghz
gpu : Sapphire Radeon hd 6870 flex (Not any more i guess)
ram : 2x2 GB ddr2 400 mhz
psu : coolermaster GX 550 watt
hdd : wd 380 GB + wd 500 GB
monitor : Lg Flatron 19' (1440x900)

I was planning on upgrading my CPU and Ram but now i think i got one more thing to upgrade...

please help me and thank you all.

Your hardware is relatively balanced, upgrading it won't help... and you still got 400MHz ram, oh my god...

#EHEM# anyways, yes, your GPU is exhibiting signs of thermal damage, pretty boy haven't been cleaning the card radiator properly?

i know my ram is slow... but had been gaming with it for 4 years now...and that bad boy did not held me back...could play all new games med-high setting (AC4, Crysis3...)

back to my problem...
i clean my card every 4 months or so... but not by removing the heat sink because i am scared of damaging the core...

gpu-z shows the temp between 45-65.correct me if i am wrong i think it is normal temp for this card...

if it is caused by thermal damage... how to fix it?

thanks for answering....:)

Try this
First of all you need to TOTALLY remove all the old drivers. Use this link.
http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/
Note:
Select the respective company(i.e Nvidia or ATI) drivers to be uninstalled.
Use clean and restart option.
And then install the new drivers after rebooting.

Note the DAMAGE part of thermal damage? Feel like soldering under high power electron microscope?:(
