here are my three options for $400:
1) Powercolor PCS+ R9 290
2) Gigabyte R9 290 WindForce OC
3) Asus R9 290 DirectCU II OC

Which of the three has best temps, lowest noise and most overclocking potential.
Have my eyes on the powercolor is it looks like the best of overclocking potential and stock speeds.

What do you guys think?
All responses appreciated.
Thanks

Asus.

However, it also overclocks well and makes ground on higher end Nvidia cards that are much more expensive.."

I noticed issues with many of the R9-290/290X cards, but when looking around my opinion is this is the best one. It also has a BACKPLATE that prevents card flex which can damage a card. While I've never seen it mentioned, I noticed the backplate also reduces motherboard force on the PCIe slot as a lot of the downward force gets transferred to the rear mounting area.

My second choice would be the Gigabyte but unless you find info that it's better I'm sticking with the Asus.

Have you considered the Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC? Not sure if it's available where you are, or pricing, however it's got to have one of the best coolers available.

Performance is about on par with the Asus and Gigabyte
(http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/asus-r9-290-direct-cu-ii-oc-review-1600p-ultra-hd-4k/6/),

However is significantly cooler (http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/asus-r9-290-direct-cu-ii-oc-review-1600p-ultra-hd-4k/28/)

Whilst being a tad quieter as well (http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/asus-r9-290-direct-cu-ii-oc-review-1600p-ultra-hd-4k/29/).

Disclaimer! After weeks of research (280X, 290, 290X, 780...) I have just ordered one of these ^_^

Never used Powercolor, but have heard good things. Ben using a Sapphire HD7770 for the last couple of years, and it never ceases to amaze me what this little card can do. Can't wait for my R290 to arrive tomorrow!
