Hi all,

I have recently finished building a brand new PC and have been noticing a problem.

When I go to boot my PC, it will shut down completely (No fans etc.) just after the Windows logo appears. It sometimes fails in the same spot in the same manner on the 2nd attempt. It seems to always successfully boot on the 2nd or 3rd attempt though. I notice this commonly if I shut down windows, then go to power it up a few seconds after.

I first noticed this when I was attempting to OC my PC and had to restart it a number of times to access the bios. I got the CPU up to a stable 4.7GHz having stress tested it with different software. I have however since reset my BIOS incase the OC was causing the issue, unfortunately the problem persists.

Specs:

- Intel i7 4790k
- 16GB Corsair Pro 1866Mhz
- Asus Maximus VII Ranger
- Zotac GTX 770 AMP!
- Samsung 256GB SSD (Boot Drive)
- Vetex 4 128 SSD (secondary)
- 1TB HDD (Secondary)
- EVGA 1000w gold PSU
- Coolermaster Enforcer Case
- H80i CPU cooler

As mentioned almost all components are new, the PSU was used for a couple of months in a different system with no issue.

I might add, I had a faulty H80i cooler initially which caused the CPU to get VERY hot (90/100) for around 5 mins until I realised it was not working and replaced it. Having been replaced, I OC the CPU to 4.7GHz and ran Intel Extreme Tuner and AIDA64 to verify the OC.

Currently everything is set to default however, the system seems stable during operation once successfully booted.. help me? :(

Solution
Hmm, it could be error with Windows, these problems are kinda tricky to solve. Try doing a quick OS re-install if that doesn't help it could be a faulty motherboard or other hardware.
