Hello, I have a dell optiplex 745 small form factor and i just bought a gigabyte geforce 210 low profile half height graphics card and i know the cards power requirements are 300w and will work in my 275w power supply but i want to upgrade the power supply to anything over 300w. I know the power supply in it now is awkward and it will be very hard to find one that will fit in the space given. so do any off the experts on here have any suggestions. much appreciated nathan

For ~$40 regular retail price, there is Antec's VP450 which ranks tier-2b ("not quite tier-2 but still very good") on the Xpert list which is going to be several times better than Logisys and most other brands from tier-5.

At a glance, the Optiplex 745 uses a TFX-format power supply.

On NewEgg, the best TFX PSU I could find is a 300W Seasonic:

Unless you want to mount a standard ATX power supply outside the case or leave it dangling somewhere inside, that appears to be your only option. There are higher power TFX PSUs on NewEgg but most of them are listed as either unspecified OEM or from so-so brands.

umm well first off i will tell you to buy an ATX case if thats not possible you can just buy a normal atx power supply and run it outside your case with the cover off things will get dusty but it will work. And if you cant do that then your 275watt psu may power it but your taking risk it could fail and if it does it could take something like your motherboard or more out with it.

I have replaced many psu's in dell pc's in the past i have never experienced one with a different pinout for the 24pin so i think you should be okay.
