Hi everyone,

I've been trying to troubleshoot this problem for some time now and I just can't seem to find the answer that solves this problem I'm having with my new computer build I am doing. Got all the parts for the computer and put it together and boot it up and my new HDD (WD1003FZEX) is not being detected by my BIOS (motherboard is a ASUS Z97-A) or by the Windows 8 pro installation when I boot from the install disk. I can hear the HDD powering up and spinning. The BIOS and install do however detect the Samsung EVO 120GB SSD I have in there currently. I've tried switching ports and cables to no avail. I checked all types of SATA in the BIOS and the HDD never shows up. Please let me know what you recommend to solve this problem. Thanks

Sounds like a bad drive to me. I had this same thing happen to me while building a system for a friend. RMA the drive and get it replaced under warranty.
