Thoughts on the r9-290

Solution
The R9 290 is a fine graphics card and will serve you well. Powercolor are as good as any other manufacturer in my experience - Which manufacturer is the best on each card is mostly determined by the cooling, but in general the differences are fairly slight. I tend to let price determine things myself, although if you are an overclocker you may want to read up on which 290 boards are best for that.

And yes, a 212 is a great heat sink and will do just fine with with an i5. It won't give you the same headroom as water for overclocking, but it'll still give you a decent amount of play.
