I recently got my friend a second hard drive to use because the old one is getting full. We connected it (most likely correctly because everything fit right) but when we boot up the computer and got to bios page, we don't see anything, just a blank where the second one should be. We see the original one we installed but we're confused where the second one is. this is the name of the second hard drive we got (Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive - WD5000AAKX) the computer she uses is a Gateway DX4710-UB301A operating windows 7 professional. We need help because the previous seller won't respond back to our emails to help.

Where did you buy this hard drive from? When the seller doesn't respond thats usually not a good thing. They could have sold you a bad drive :(

1) Do you heard the hard drive spin up when you turn the PC on? You can just put a finger or two on the top part when you turn it on and you can fell it

2) do you have another PC you can try it in?

The drive spins, i can hear it when i put it in. But then it just stops. I have not tried it in another computer, and will try to soon to see what the results are but if there's anything you can try helping with, please do. I don't know about the seller, he or she doesn't even respond, and i got the hard drive off amazon online.

Then if it doesn't work in another PC and you get the same results i would contact amazon about it then about a DOA hard drive.
