For that price I'd say the titan, it has more vram, which is a definite help in higher resolutions, especially with games like bf4 and watchdogs which will make use of whatever vram is available. For the majority of current games however, those use only a set amount maximum of vram, usually less than 3Gb max, the 290x will outperform the titan, if not by much.
