Which 16:10 1200p monitor should I choose? LG or NEC.

Hello,

I want to buy a new monitor. I want it to be 1920x1200px (16:10). I have two candidates between which the difference in prices is substantial.

First (cheaper): http://uk.hardware.info/productinfo/206816/lg-24mb65pm-b#tab:specifications
Second: http://www.necdisplay.com/p/desktop-monitors/ea244wmi-bk

As I said - the price is sustantial (at least in my country). So what is the difference between the two of them (apart from HDMI/DP)? Or maybe NEC has better image quality? Which one should I buy?

Thanks.

Hmm HDMI is a very versatile connection due to a lot of adapters being supplied for it. Unless you do not see any conflicts arising in the future concerning adding in other monitors (and since the LG one does have DP it shouldn't be that much of an issue as long as you have an up to date GPU with a DP input. Honestly higher up the spectrum of monitors, as long it has either HDMI or DP I don't judge by the amount of/types of connections that much. Mostly all about the panel when you get up that high.

So I'm still putting in for the LG one I suppose.

NEC only lists it as having an IPS panel. The LG one is listed as having an AH-IPS panel (which is the most recent iteration of IPS technology). They both have outstanding stands (get the joke?) and have HDMI so things like DP or DVI can be handled with an adapter or HDMI to DVI/DP cable. Honestly I'd choose the LG one because it has a superior panel and has a slimmer bezel. Also LG is a bigger panel manufacturer than NEC but since they're both pretty big anyway they have similar quality control and standards.

Only NEC has HDMI, LG doesn't.

Ok, thank you.
So I'll tell you how want to plug it :) Actually, I want to have two monitors - now I have an LG 23" 16:9 1080p - and I want this to be my "second" monitor and this "new" 16:10 my "first". Of course this 1080p LG has DVI and HDMI inputs. My graphics card (R9 280x) has HDMI and DVI outputs (and DP). What's more, I would like to plug my DVB-T tuner to the "first" monitor (16:10), so its HDMI input would be useful - and LG and NEC have internal speakers but only NEC has HDMI. But is it worth that much money....

If only the NEC one can support all your purposes then that makes it a logical choice as well. I see why you came here asking x__x I will say though that you could use DP to HDMI cable and still hook the LG one to the tuner. DP supports audio transmission.
