PSU turns on everything for a second and then shuts off.

Hi, I just built my first computer and I managed to get everything plugged up and it turns on for about a second or so and then immediately shuts down. I can see my graphics card turn on, the lights on my motherboard turns on and the all of the LED fans turn on. This is my rig:

CPU: AMD AM3+ FX-9370

MOBO: Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0

Graphics card: Nvidia Evga Geforce GTX 760

PSU: Corsair HX750 Gold

RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1866 8GB (I have two of them in for a total of 16GB

Optical Drive: LG 16x Blu-Ray/DVD Writer: Super Multi Blue BH16

HDD: Hitachi 2TB SATA 6.0 gb

Ethernet Card: Rosewill Dual Port Gigabit PCI-E Ethernet Network Card (RNG-407-Dual)

FANs: Came with the Rosewill ATX case, but they are LED's

That is all I've put in there. I actually did some troubleshooting myself by unplugging on thing at a time also taking ram out, but it keeps doing the same thing. The lights on the motherboard come on and the green LED says there is power to it even after the PSU shuts down. So, I'm not sure what I did and how to fix it. I'm hoping it is a PSU problem and not a Motherboard problem. However, I realize that it could easily be something else as well. The only things I haven't fully unplugged from the motherboard is the Graphics card or the Ethernet card. Can you all give me any other insight as to what it might be or how to find out. Thank you!

No, none. I just umplugged the graphics card and the ethernet card and sill nothing. I haven't cleared the CMOS yet. Is there there a way to clear the CMOS without taking out the CMOS battery? I think I saw in my manual where there a button for that but that might have been to clear the bios. I may not have the case speaker hooked up in the right place.

Dont worry about the CMOS cause that just resets the but you can't POST. You need the memory, graphics and cpu in. remove or unplug everything else. Is the DRAM led light on. If so try activating the MemOK feature by holding the button down till the light blink.

It comes on for about the duration of the time everything stays on, and then goes off right before it shuts down. The last thing to come on for a split second is the CPU light, and as soon as that comes on it shuts off. The DRAM led doesn't blink or anything. The green led stays on as long as I have the PSU switched on. So... my guess for awhile is that it really isn't my PSU... but possibly either my motherboard or my CPU. I'm going to test the DRAM by putting one stick in to each slot and see what happens. I know the graphics card does power on, and the computer still shuts off even with it in or out. I'll let you know what happens with the DRAM. However, should I unhook the data cables from the motherboard. The ones that go to the optical drive and the HDD?

Yeah unhook all of that. You want to narrow down the problem so just have only the hardware you need to POST. It could be anything at this point.
Btw just use one memory stick for now. make sure you put it in the right channel

okay, so the computer doesn't stay on long enough for the MEMoK feature to go through all of its compatibility test......... it really sounds like it's my MOBO... doesn't it? I won't make that a full fledge assumption just yet, but it is starting to lead there. However, the DRAM light now blinks instead of just staying on. What would you say it means when the CPU light only comes on for a second. It's like the mobo is checking everything and when it gets to the CPU light, that is when it turns off.

The lights on indicate a problem at that point. If it goes off that's good but if it stays on there is a problem. So after the led lights go off there is no power at all to anything, no cpu fan? no GPU fan?

Yeah, everything but the green LED goes off. As I'm sure you know, the Green LED just indicates that there is standby power and only goes off when I switch the PSU off. That is the reason why I'm reserved in thinking that it is the PSU... because I figured if it was the PSU, I wouldn't even be getting the green led to stay on. Or am I wrong about that?

Okay! Thanks for the help! It's my first build.... and you know, despite the trouble, I'm actually enjoying myself. The positive side is I'm learning a lot more this way. One thing I've been wanting to learn is how to appropriately and efficiently troubleshoot computers and I've got the perfect opportunity. So again, Thank you for the help.
