Should i have a separate hard drive for local recordings?

I have a pretty nice custom rig, and it seems that when i record on even the lowest settings i still seem to have weird FPS, any help on this?

GeForce GTX 770
Intel i7-4770k CPU @ 3.5ghz
8gb Ram
1680x1050, 59Hz

Yeah, recording to a separate drive should give you a nice boost in performance.
