can my android hdmi dongle support the linux os

i bought an android hdmi dongle last week but a few days ago i read an article about putting the ubuntu operating system in the dongle but i dont know if my dongle can handle it? can anyone help me. thank you.

specs:

ARM Cortex A5 1,0 ghz
Ram 512mb ddr3
4gb memory

Ubuntu requires at least 5 gigs of space from what Ive read. Perhaps another distro will fit.

well it actually has a microsd card slot, i was hoping to use an 8gig card. would it work that way?
