Hi,
All

So here is my current rig:

Intel i7-3770K CPU
ASRock Extreme4 M/B
Gigabyte R9 270X Video Card
8GB Vengeance Ram
WD 1 TB Black Edition
ThermalTake 600W P/S

And right now I have a S24D300 monitor I will be upgrading to a ASUS VG278HE 144HZ.
I will be making game play videos for Youtube. The games I will be playing are World of Tanks, War Thunder and BF4. I will Not be doing any 3D.

So I am thinking of upgrading to either a GTX 680 (300$ on Newegg) or a GTX 780 (500 on Newegg). And probably will get a bigger PSU.

So what is the communities opinion the 680 or 780? or maybe even a second 270x in crossfire?

Will the bigger PSU be needed?

Thanks in advance.........

Yes, a 750W or better GOOD QUALITY power supply would be needed for either of those 2 Nvidia cards. In fact, I would say even for the dual 270x cards.
I'm not a big fan of most Thermaltake PSUs.

Thanks for the reply.

Any suggestions on which way to go on the card upgrade?

You will get the best frame rates with dual 270x cards. But the single 780 will be smoother with less chance of seeing stutter due to better frame times. I would probably go for the 780 with the possibility of adding a 2nd one when needed. Stutter becomes less of an issue with the high end cards in CF or SLI.

Cross fire has quite a lot of issues. Firstly, drivers. Not all games support it and the drivers can be cranky and times. Secondly, heat. Dual GPU setups create a lot of heat so proper cooling and airflow is a must. If you live in a tropical country where it gets pretty warm, I don't recommend it.

A single GPU should provide smoother gameplay. You could try selling your current R9 270x and buy a new GTX 770 or R9 280x.
