I'm new to overclocking I have a fx 8350 with a ga-990fxa-ud3 rev. 4.0 board my power supply is a corsair gs800 series,I also have a Sapphire Vapor-x I've been trying to get my cpu to 4.5 If anyone could give me the settings to change in the bio it really would help. My cooler is a Enermax ETS-T40-BK 30c at idle and 57c at max load

More about : 8350 overclock

There are no "settings" each CPU overclocks differently. If you can keep it at 4.4 i'd suggest you get comfortable with that. You won't see much benefit anyway because of the low per-core performance.

57C at maximum load, with your CPU at stock settings/frequencies? What voltages (Vcore) are you running at?

Since you have a different BIOS, you'll have to extrapolate. Principles are the same.

Honestly, 4.4 ghz is good enough, and you should leave some leeway anyway.

At all? So you can't even overclock to 4.2, or 4.1 ghz?

No I can't and my cpu only go's to 3.92 under max load, should I get a new power supply or motherboard

You motherboard and PSU are of a good quality. I'm not sure why your CPU is running *under* even stock settings.

What case do you have? Did you install the cooler properly?

My case is a NZXT H230 I have two Corsair Air Series fans for intake and my cooler is exhaust, the cooler is installed correctly when I use prime95 to test my cpu rans at 3.92 temp is around 52c

That seems like a good case. I see that the default configuration comes with one intake and one exhaust fan. Are your two Corsair Air fans intaking from the front? If so, adding another fan onto the rear as exhaust should help a bit - even if you need to move one fan from the front to the back. That may drop your temperatures by as much as 5C.

I also noted that the case's maximum clearance is 158mm, and the cooler is 160mm. Does the cooler still fit comfortably within the case? Does the side bow out, or contact the cooler at all?

Lastly, does your PSU, or Video card, vent into the case?

The cooler I have covers the exhaust, it was a little hard to fit, the side doesn't bow or contact the cooler also I when't into the bios and changed all the auto settings to manual at the default settings and voltage and set the cpu to 4.0 and my computer still crashed could it be my power supply or motherboard?

after my computer crash i use the same cpu clock setting put all voltage setting to auto now cpu runs at 4.9 at 7% usage but when i use prime95 and cpu is at 92 percent at go's down to 3.88 seem like the cpu v core voltage does down from 1.428 to 1.284

Unless you have a fan directly blowing through the holes/mesh of the rear of the case, chances are that the airflow from your heatsink and fan are meeting more resistance and just trapping heat, rather than venting it outside the case.

Unless something if broke, or messed up, with your Motherboard, or PSU, they should be fine. I don't know of any tests to verify their states, though. It's weird that your rig won't run at base, stock settings.

i'm going to get a new power supply first, I'll update you after that also my computer freeze's sometime could that be the power supply?

I honestly couldn't tell you, without some way of doing tests. It could be any number of things. I just know that your CPU temperature seems a bit high for that CPU cooler, and I'm trying to figure out a way to get it within proper specifications.
