Hi, my first time posting. I am have a very hard time diagnosing this problem. I install a new GPU In my system to get better performance in same games. Ever since I change my gpu I've been having this problem. It doesn't matter what I'm doing on the system it randomly does it every time. Sometime it stays on for 2 hour most of the time it only runs for 5-10 min. I tried 3 different gpu with the same results, I also change out the psu with no joy. Worked fine with my hd 7970 now this, please help.

it really is man :S I have a feeling it might be a weird compatibility issue between your motherboard and 290, or CPU and 290.
There are some more thing you could try, like updating the motherboards BIOS and clearing the CMOS. Google these for more info. :)
After this with the old GPU in, try using Display Driver Uninstaller to remove all drivers for the old card, it'll guide you through this and then shut down your PC, from here you could try your 290 again.
Let me know how it goes! Best of luck. :D
